California has an electrification incentive that not a lot of people know about, and you could get paid $4,250 in 2025 to electrify your home.

To qualify for the cash rebate, one must make their homes all-electric and to have their gas service shut off. As part of this process, you must either replace your gas furnace or water heater with an all-electric option. So if you have already started the process of electrification, or bought a house with mostly electric appliances and only have the water heater left to do, then this incentive could pay for a large portion of your remaining expenses to install a Sunbank and to fully electrify your home. Or, if you want to kick gas out of your home and are ready to make that investment, then this is a good time to take advantage of this financial incentive.

This incentive program, like many others, are heavily pushing heat pump water heaters. However, in the fine print you can see that a much more efficient option also qualifies for the incentive – a solar water heater. We have confirmed that Sunbank solar water heaters with electric backup do qualify for the incentive program.
