Corrosion Resistant Materials
The Sunbank is made of all corrosion resistant materials and perfect for tropical and coastal environments. Sunbanks are installed on buildings all over the world, from hospitals in Micronesia, to clinics in Madagascar. Some of our primary markets are Hawaii, the Caribbean, Florida, and coastal California – all places with salty air and corrosion issues.
Sunbanks fare well in these environments because they are constructed from high quality materials. The Sunbank tank outer shell is made from stainless steel. Our bracket is made of anodized aluminum, with stainless steel hardware. And the collectors are made from high strength borosilicate glass (Pyrex), and glass doesn’t corrode.
In addition to the external materials, perhaps the most important place for corrosion resistance is the inner pressure tank. We make this from 316 stainless steel. This is the same grade used for chemical storage. We make the system from the best possible materials because we want it to last a long time. We understand that the cost and effort to install the system is significant, so we want you to only have to do that once. Also, our system is the only one of its type to be SRCC certified and therefore to qualify for the 30% federal tax credit. This tax credit applies to the total cost of the system installed, and makes our system less expensive than other, lower quality systems.
Ocean Freight
In addition to faring well in these climates, we also make it easy to get the system there. Many of our customers in the Caribbean ship with freight forwarders in Miami, but for those in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, we can ship directly through our carrier. We also ship directly to Hawaii via ocean freight. This save money on shipping, bypassing the need for a freight forwarder.
